  6. Tips

Short answer: for APS-C cameras and light full-frame setups, the DJI RS 4 Mini is the best gimbal for most people. For full-frame bodies with heavy f/2.8 zooms, buy the DJI RS 4. The Zhiyun Weebill 3S is a capable alternative.

Match the gimbal to your camera’s weight

Add up camera + lens + mic + card. Stay comfortably below the gimbal’s payload, ideally around 70% of it.

Gimbal Payload Approx. price (Oct 2026) Best for
DJI RS 4 Mini 2 kg ₹34,000 ZV-E10 II, a6700, R50, Z50 II, a7C II + light lens
DJI RS 4 3 kg ₹53,000 a7 IV / R6 III + 24-70 f/2.8
Zhiyun Weebill 3S ~3 kg ₹38,000 Mirrorless rigs, low-angle sling shooting
DJI Osmo Mobile 7P Phones ₹12,000 Phone creators

DJI RS 4 Mini: the easy one

Automatic balancing removes the most frustrating part of owning a gimbal, and it switches to vertical in seconds for reels. Bluetooth shutter control works with most Sony, Canon, Nikon and Fujifilm bodies, and the optional tracking module follows you when you film alone.

DJI RS 4: for wedding videographers

The RS 4 carries heavier full-frame setups, has automatic axis locks for quick packing between ceremonies, and supports focus motors. If you shoot weddings with an a7 IV or R6 Mark III and a 24-70mm f/2.8, this is the one.

Zhiyun Weebill 3S

Its compact sling-style design and wrist rest are comfortable for long low-angle shots, and the built-in fill light is handy. Setup is more manual than DJI’s.

Do you need a camera gimbal at all?

Tips

  • Use light, wide lenses: the Sony E 11mm F1.8 or Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 balance easily.
  • Practise the “ninja walk” (knees bent, heel-to-toe) to remove remaining bounce.
  • Bring your camera and lens to the store and we’ll balance it on the gimbal before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

01Can the DJI RS 4 Mini hold a Sony a7 IV?

With a light lens such as the FE 28-60mm or a small prime, yes. With a 24-70mm f/2.8 zoom you'll be at or over the limit; choose the RS 4 instead.

02Is a gimbal better than in-body stabilisation?

For walking shots, yes. IBIS and digital stabilisation smooth small shakes, but a gimbal removes the up-and-down bounce of walking and enables smooth moving shots.

03How long does it take to balance a gimbal?

With the RS 4 Mini's automatic balancing, a couple of minutes. With manual balancing, 5–10 minutes the first time; mark your settings so it's quicker next time.
