Short answer: a grey-market camera is genuine but imported outside the brand’s Indian channel. It may be cheaper, but it usually has no Indian warranty, and authorised service centres often refuse it. For expensive gear, buying with Indian warranty and a GST invoice is usually worth the difference.
Prices differ between countries because of taxes, currency and distribution costs. Importers buy abroad and sell here without the brand’s Indian warranty, service network or GST-compliant supply chain.
For very cheap, low-risk accessories, the risk is smaller. For camera bodies, lenses, drones and gimbals, the savings rarely outweigh the risk of a single repair.
At Shree Sagar Sales every product comes with a GST invoice and the applicable brand warranty, and we ship across India. Read buying a camera in Ahmedabad: what to check and camera EMI in India.
A genuine camera imported and sold outside the brand's official distribution for that country. It's not counterfeit, but the local brand office may not honour its warranty.
Usually only as a paid repair, if at all. In-warranty service generally requires an Indian invoice from an authorised channel.
Ask for a GST invoice with the serial number, check for an Indian warranty card or registration instructions, and confirm the seller sources from the brand's Indian channel.
