Short answer: for about ₹95,000 you can buy a complete YouTube kit: the Canon EOS R50 kit, a Hollyland Lark M2 wireless mic, a Godox SL60II D light with softbox, a tripod and a V30 memory card. Spend on audio and light first; they matter more than the camera.

Kit 1: complete channel, about ₹95,000

Item Pick Approx. price
Camera Canon EOS R50 + 18-45mm ₹67,000
Wireless mic Hollyland Lark M2 Combo ₹14,000
Light + softbox + stand Godox SL60II D + 90cm softbox + stand ₹17,000–19,000
Tripod Digitek DTR 550 LW ₹1,500
Memory card SanDisk Extreme PRO 128 GB ₹2,300

Add a spare LP-E17 battery (or run the camera on USB-C power at your desk) and you’re ready.

Kit 2: phone first, about ₹25,000

Already have a good phone? Buy the mic, light and tripod now, and the camera later:

Kit 3: video-first, about ₹1.3 lakh

If you’ll grade footage or film long sessions, step up to the Sony ZV-E10 II (10-bit 4K, much bigger battery) and a RØDE Wireless GO II. Add the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 later for cleaner indoor video.

Why audio and light come first

Setting up your room

  1. Sit at least a metre from the wall to avoid shadows and add depth.
  2. Softbox at 45°, slightly above eye level, as close as possible.
  3. Turn off overhead tube lights or match colour temperature.
  4. Hang curtains or add a rug to reduce echo.
  5. Camera at eye level, about 1–1.5 m away.

Camera settings to start with

4K 25p or 30p, shutter 1/50 or 1/60, the widest aperture, auto ISO with a sensible limit, face/eye AF on, and white balance set to the light’s 5600K.

Frequently asked questions

01What is the best camera for YouTube under ₹1 lakh?

The Canon EOS R50 kit if you need budget for a mic and light too; the Sony ZV-E10 II if the camera is your main purchase and you already have audio and lighting.

02Can I start YouTube with a phone?

Yes. A recent phone plus a wireless mic, one light and a tripod produces very good talking-head videos. Upgrade to a camera when you want background blur and better low light.

03How should I set up the light and mic?

Place the softbox at about 45° to one side, slightly above eye level and close to you; sit a metre or more from the wall; clip the mic 15–20 cm below your chin.
